Following in the steps of program alum and Senior pitcher Kristin Fealy (graduating 2018- Criminal Justice), Centerfielder Molly Edge will attend Adelphi University (DII-Northeast-10) and intends to major in Nursing. Click here for their 8-woman announcement for their 2019 signing class under Head Coach Carla Campagna (First Season).

After a summer of virtually unstoppable home runs, Catcher/Utility Becky Hodder will attend Wayne State University (DII-GLIAC) to study Kinesiology. Click here for their 5-woman announcement for their 2019 signing class under Head Coach Gary Bryce (38th Season).

Outfielder Samantha Miller, an athlete built with determination and work ethic faces a 2 hour drive to practice from Penetanguishene 3 times a week and rarely misses a practice. Sam will attend St. Peters University (DI-MAAC) to study Mathematics. Click here for their 9-woman signing class under Head Coach Chris Stelma (Third Season).

Being a part of TFC has been such an amazing experience. The coaching staff has pushed me to reach my goals and to be a better player. Being on the team has taught me leadership, accountability, and how to work as a team to reach the common goal. As I am upset to be leaving my TFC family, I am extremely excited to be furthering my academic and athletic career at St. Peters. – Sam Miller

All three players committed to their schools this past summer, and they are breathing a sigh of relief now that their university acceptances have been received. This time of year can be stressful for high school seniors, but with the support of their teammates our full graduating class will receive more exciting news in the upcoming months.

Fall 2018 College Tour

The Toronto Fastpitch Club 19U squad will travel September 26, 27 and 28th to play international exhibition games against University of New Haven, Adelphi University and Kutztown University. The TFC will kick off their fall tour playing UNH (DII- NE10) complete with a tour of the university. Unfortunately, 2016’s scheduled games were rained out so the squad is  eagerly anticipating their first games at New Haven Softball Field. Assistant Coach Leah McIntosh was coached by TFC Head Coach Alan Spohn, and she was the pitching half of a threatening defensive duo with Asst. Coach Robyn Draper.

From West Haven, CT., the team will drive to Garden City, N.Y.  for a DH against the Panthers at Janet L. Ficke Field. Playing Adelphi this year will be a bittersweet moment for the players and staff, as TFC Senior pitcher Kristin Fealy enters her own senior year with the Panthers. Fealy is a program favourite with the younger squad. TFC CF Molly Edge (2019) committed this month to attend Adelphi (DII- NE10) next fall, and it will be a special moment in program history as they take the field against each other one last time with Kristin in a Panther uniform.

Unknown-3

After filling up on huge and delicious sandwiches at the Adelphi Deli, TFC will travel to Kutztown University (DII-PSAC) in Pennsylvania for a DH against long time friends the Golden Bears. TFC Seniors Erin Fortney and Morgan Mather take the field at Kutztown for their own senior years, as well. There will be plenty of hugs, laughs, tears and ice cream as we bid them farewell as they embark on their final year of college softball. The TFC program has plenty to celebrate during this trip, and it’s a privilege to get to watch our college and high school players battle in friendlies on the field.

To mark this celebration, and with timing clearly on our side, the team will stop at Binghamton University Softball Field on the drive home to watch Midget 19U team graduate Nicole Rivait suit up as a freshman for Bucknell University versus the Bearcats.

Fall 2018 is an exciting time for the program, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the girls battle under pressure. The role models and experiences that they’re exposed to serve them well into the future with whatever endeavours they chose to follow. These trips are a unique experience for international players, and we’re very fortunate to have these strong ties with long-standing and respected softball programs through-out the United States and Canada.
