Farewell to the 2019 Summer Season

2019 was a landmark year for the Toronto Fastpitch Club 19U team. Earning a program-first bid to compete August 13-18 in Kitchener for the National Championships. The TFC battled through the round robin, finished 6-2 to earn a life in the play-offs. Making the pool of 12 lit a fire so to speak, as the team fought to eliminate both Saskatchewan entries on Play-off Saturday. Waking up Sunday morning as a contender after the long week was a memory the girls will cherish and use to motivate them for years to come. Unfortunately, the TFC was knocked out Sunday morning by the BC1 Whiterock squad. The coaching staff, fans and parents are so proud of the effort the team showed all of National Week.

All-Star Infielder announcement went to a deserving Shelby Miller who can (but won’t) boast an electric bat with hands like a young Jeter.  Congrats!

The tournament was bittersweet for four of our 2019 graduates. Dorm move-ins and orientations are happening as I type up this article. Catcher/UT Becky Hodder heads to Detroit to attend Wayne State this fall. She’s been looking forward to wearing the green and yellow since last fall. Pitcher Jordanna Hartley has packed up all her bathing suits and sunscreen as she moves to Miami to attend Barry University. (although she won’t have much time for the beach, soon!) Outfielder Quinn Danniels will start towards her goal as a sports broadcaster at Ryerson after Labour Day. Centerfielder Molly Edge had a hard time fitting all of her Chuck Taylor’s in her suitcase, but her gold glove would never be relegated to her bags. She’s on her way to adjusting to life at Adelphi University, a school our team has had the honour of playing for the last 3 falls during our annual College Tours. Check back this afternoon for an update on our 2020 Fall College Tour schedule. The TFC have been invited to challenge 4 university and colleges at the end of September!

A special shout out has to be given to Nicole Rivait (Bucknell University) ! The team missed her at Nationals, but she helped the Canadian Women’s Junior Team bring home bronze at the World’s!

Canada Earns Bronze!
